Thomas loves animals and spent his teen years studying hard to pursue his dream: He was certified as a veterinary assistant in 2019, and earned an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology in 2021. He is thrilled to join the staff at Leader Heights as a Certified Veterinary Technician.
Thomas enjoys interacting with different breeds of dogs for any kind of treatment – from nail trims, to x-rays, to surgeries. He is keenly interested in dog behavior and dog obedience, and knows how to calm agitated pets prior to treatment. He does a lot of dog sitting and dog walking now that his beloved Lab mix, Maggie, crossed the rainbow bridge.
Thomas has a special interest in pocket pets. He has owned guinea pigs his whole life, and currently fosters pregnant guinea pigs through the Lancaster County Humane League. Along the way, he gained experience socializing young rabbits.
As a person on the autism spectrum, Thomas is well aware of how important pets are in providing emotional support for people with special needs. Every day working with animals at Leader Heights is a great day for Thomas.
Thomas was born and raised in Mechanicsburg, then moved to Lancaster where he attended Penn Manor High School and the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center. He has been a volunteer for the Pet Pantry Food Program since 2016, distributing pet food to families in need. In his spare time, Thomas enjoys experimenting with his 3D printer, replicating WWII tanks, armored vehicles, navy ships, and planes.
